Write a press release with appropriate statistics, description of measles, control, and prevention strategies.

Many press releases include a quote from a local authority, e.g., the State Health Commissioner, to personalize and add interest. A good public health press release would also include what the average citizen should do; a press release is an opportunity for public health officials to send evidence-based public health messages. At least two references using the APA style should be included.

CONFIRMED MEASLES CASE SITUATION IN BULKELEY HIGH SCHOOL AS AT 7TH APRIL 2021 PROMPTS IMMEDIATE INTERVENTION

Following the alert from the administration of Bulkeley high school, we call upon the media to inform the general public about the measles situation. According to the medical results obtained from the samples collected, two hundred students have tested positive for measles. 75% of these students have exhibited the major signs and symptoms. Testing of measles has been heightened to determine the spread.  The school administration avers that the student’s population is approximately six hundred.

The report shows that the sick students exhibit symptoms such as conjunctivitis, cough, rashes, fever, sore throat and runny nose. Some of the students have rashes while others have Koplik spots. Consistent with the school contact tracing and case investigation, a third of the group came in close contact with a measles patient.

As of now, the school has embarked on separating the patients from the rest of the students,   also, the institution has employed social distancing and barred physical contact until the situation is controlled. Similarly, parents have been called upon to pick up their sick children and isolate them at home until they recover. The students should be given Vitamin A to suppress the severity of the condition. In addition, they need humidifiers, plenty of fluids, enough rest, sponge baths with lukewarm water and acetaminophen to ease the symptoms.

The media and non-governmental organizations can mobilize resources or inform the public and other learning instructions to be aware of measles. The public should allay fears, report incidences of measles for quick intervention. They should avoid physical contact to curb the spread.it is imperative if they took their children to measles vaccination. Importantly, people should cover their nose and mouth when they are coughing and sneezing.

Connecticut state department of public health is working closely with Organization of U.S education, Bulkeley high school and the Connecticut Public Health Association to get more insights into the case that occurred. A critical investigation is detailing the statistics, spread, treatment and vaccination. School and the public who are unsure of the spread and control method should contact healthcare institutions within the state.
