Margaret Ann Hyatt teaches English literature at Myers Park Junior High School. She is a very talented, popular and well organized third year teacher.

During her second period class, she remembered leaving a box of graded papers for this class in her car; she asked one of her students, Mikka Morris, to go to her car and retrieve the box of papers. Mikka goes to Ms. Hyatt’s car; because of some new construction and repairs to the area, a workman asks Mikka to move to car 50 feet closer to the building. Mikka wanted to be helpful so he starts the car and begins to drive it toward the building. Almost immediately after the car had moved 20 feet, the car is struck by another car; Mikka is severely injured from the collision. Mikka’s parents wondered why a 15-year-old student was driving a teacher’s car.
